Drywall is the finish everyone sees and nobody should notice. Every wave, proud screw, and cracked corner telegraphs through paint forever, and raking evening light finds flaws that were invisible at noon. Good drywall is a craft measured in hundredths of an inch across twelve-foot spans.

The North Group hangs and finishes drywall on our own remodels and takes standalone drywall scopes across the area. Same finishers, same standard: walls that look like walls, not like a story about who built them.

Drywall Work We Take On

• New installation. Hanging and finishing for additions, renovations, and new builds, coordinated with our framing so the substrate is flat before board goes up.
• Level 4 and Level 5 finishes. Standard smooth for most rooms, full skim-coat Level 5 where critical light or gloss paint demands it. We will tell you honestly which your room needs.
• Water damage replacement. Cutting out sagged and stained board after leaks, verifying the cavity is dry, and blending the repair into the existing surface. Pairs with our insurance remodeling work when a claim is involved.
• Ceiling work. Ceiling hanging and finishing, including replacing sagging board and correcting past patch jobs.
• Texture matching and removal. Matching existing knockdown and orange peel so repairs vanish, or skimming textured walls smooth for a modern finish.
• Moisture-resistant installations. Proper board selection for bathrooms, laundry rooms, and garages. Green board where it belongs and cement board where tile demands it, which matters in our humidity.

Why Drywall Fails Here

In southeastern North Carolina, drywall problems are usually moisture problems wearing a disguise. Nail pops and corner cracking from framing that absorbed humidity and dried, tape release in unconditioned rooms, and the slow stain of a roof or plumbing leak traveling along a ceiling.

We fix the cause first. Replacing a water-stained ceiling without finding the leak just schedules the next repair, so every drywall repair starts with a straight answer about why the damage happened.

Last thing: if you are getting drywall bids, walk the bidder to a window wall in afternoon light and ask what finish level it needs. The ones who answer with a level number and a reason know the craft. The ones who say it will all look fine are telling you how the hallway is going to look in raking light for the next twenty years.
