Insurance Remodeling
Rebuilt Right After the Worst Day.
Storm, fire, and water damage restoration across southeastern North Carolina, with the claim documentation handled so the scope covers what the rebuild actually needs.

When a tree comes through the roof or a supply line floods the kitchen, you are suddenly running two projects at once: a construction job and an insurance claim. Get either one wrong and you live with the result for years. The carrier’s first scope is rarely the full scope, and a contractor who cannot document damage properly leaves your money on the table.
Richard has rebuilt storm and water-damaged homes across Robeson County and the surrounding area for 25 years, including the waves of work after Hurricanes Matthew and Florence. The North Group handles the rebuild and the documentation both, so the claim reflects what putting your home back actually requires.
What Insurance Remodeling Covers
- Storm damage restoration. Wind, fallen trees, and wind-driven rain. Structural repair, roof and exterior restoration, and interior finishes brought back to pre-loss condition or better.
- Water damage rebuilds. Burst pipes, appliance failures, and flood intrusion. We rebuild after mitigation: subfloor, framing repair, insulation, drywall, and finishes, with moisture readings documented before anything closes up.
- Fire and smoke restoration. Structural assessment, selective demolition, odor-sealing primers, and full reconstruction of damaged rooms.
- Scope documentation. Photo documentation, measurements, and line-item detail aligned to how adjusters actually read scopes, so covered damage does not get missed or lowballed.
- Adjuster meetings. We meet the adjuster on site and walk the damage together. Homeowners who face that meeting alone almost always settle for the first number.
- Supplements when damage emerges. Hidden damage found during demolition gets documented and submitted properly, not absorbed into shortcuts or surprise bills.
The Claim Is Half the Project
Insurance restoration lives or dies on evidence. Every hour between the damage and the documentation is an hour for conditions to change and coverage arguments to start. We photograph before tarps go on, keep moisture logs during dry-out, and preserve damaged materials the adjuster needs to see.
We are also straight about the other side: if the damage is below your deductible or a claim would cost you more in premiums than it pays, we tell you. A quarter century in this business is built on telling people the truth when it costs us a job.
One Contract From Loss to Move-Back
After the settlement, the rebuild runs like any North Group project: written scope, real schedule, Richard on the job. Roofing goes through our insurance roofing crew, structural work through our own framing capability, and finishes to the standard in our gallery.
If you are staring at damage right now, call (910) 785-9253 before the adjuster visit, or reach us through the contact page. The order of operations matters more than people realize.
Three Losses We Rebuilt
The kitchen supply-line flood.
A quarter-inch line let go over a weekend. Mitigation dried it, we rebuilt floors, cabinets, and drywall, and the supplement caught the buckled hallway the first scope missed.
The tree through the roofline.
Structural repair, roof section rebuilt, interior rooms restored. We met the adjuster on site with the framing exposed, which is why the scope was right the first time.
The lightning fire.
Attic fire, water damage below from the response. Selective demolition saved what was sound, odor sealing handled the rest, and the family moved back into a house better built than before the strike.
Insurance Remodeling Questions, Answered
Should I call the contractor or the insurance company first?
Stabilize safety first, then ideally talk to us before the adjuster inspection. Pre-inspection documentation and a contractor walking the damage with the adjuster consistently produces a more complete scope. If you already filed, that is fine, we pick up from wherever the claim stands.
Will you work with my insurance adjuster directly?
Yes. We meet the adjuster on site, walk the damage, and speak the same scope language they do. You stay in control of your claim, and we make sure nothing covered gets left out of it.
What if the insurance payment is not enough to fix everything?
That is what supplements are for. When legitimate damage was missed or hidden damage shows up during demolition, we document it and submit it through the proper channel. Most underpaid claims are underdocumented claims.
Do you handle the mitigation and the rebuild?
We focus on the rebuild and coordinate with mitigation companies for emergency dry-out when needed. One contract covers the reconstruction from structure to final paint, so you are not stitching together three contractors mid-crisis.
How long does an insurance rebuild take?
Small water-damage rebuilds run two to four weeks after mitigation. Major storm or fire reconstruction runs two to six months including the claims process. We give you a schedule tied to the settlement milestones so expectations stay honest.
Can I upgrade finishes during an insurance rebuild?
Yes. The carrier owes for like-kind replacement; anything above that is a clearly priced owner upgrade. The claim money and your money stay on separate lines in our paperwork so there is never a question about which is which.
Do you handle claims for rental or investment properties?
Yes. Landlord policies work similarly with different loss-of-use math, and we document rent interruption impacts alongside the physical scope. One point of contact keeps a multi-unit claim from consuming your month.
Who holds the insurance money during the project?
You do. The carrier pays you, and you pay us on the draw schedule in the contract, same as any project. Be wary of any contractor who wants the insurance check signed over up front. The paperwork should keep you in control of your own claim from start to finish.
Rebuilt to Better Than Before
A loss is the worst way to get a renovation budget, but it is one, and spending it well matters. Rebuilding to pre-loss condition is the floor. Where the walls are already open, upgrades cost pennies on the dollar: better insulation, updated wiring, moisture-resistant materials in the room that just proved it needed them.
We flag those opportunities during scoping and price them separately from the claim, clearly, so you decide what your own money adds on top of what the carrier owes. Families who rebuilt with us after Florence got houses that handle the next storm better than the original build ever did.
